Chapter 6- Editing and Display

The printing and Display chapter was mostly new information for me.  I have only used simple printers before.  I printed from documents instead of printing from Lightroom or Photoshop so it was similar to printing a document.  I have not cut photographs out before; I just printed one per page and kept them as a full page.  Now when we print multiple pictures per page in class we have to cut them out.  The straightedge cutting tool is very useful for that. Attaching them to a mat afterwards would make them the right size again to put in a portfolio. Or putting them on a mat with a cover over it would protect the photo so I could store it on its own.  I have had some photos put on a mat before for a contest years ago but I have never done it myself.

I have wanted to try different types of paper.  I have seen some paper with a velvet texture that sounds like it would make interesting prints.  I almost bought some of that but I decided to get Luster paper because it was simpler and I didn’t want to end up with only textured paper when I wanted to print something with its own texture.  I thought it might change the print too much in some cases.  I was lucky that the paper I did get works so well with the 4900 printer since they are both by Epson. My photographs come out a little too dark on the other printers sometimes because I don’t have the paper profile specifically for those printers, just for the 4900.
I would like to get a different paper to use for the final project so I can see how it looks next to the prints on the paper I use now.  I would like to try printing on roll paper at some point so I can print a panoramic photograph on a large scale.
This is the picture from order, chaos, and light that printed too dark
