This was a very important chapter to read if you want to use
the manual settings.
After this chapter
I began using the manual mode on my camera.
I have noticed before that when the ISO setting is higher the picture is
not as clear.
I didn’t really need the
instructions on using the automatic settings, that is what I used when I
started but I have taken a photography class before so I knew how to use those
settings.
The section on types of
cameras was interesting.
I have always
been interested in different types of cameras; I have a collection of old
cameras that I found at antique stores.
I also have a 35mm which has a data panel, I have never known how to
read it but this chapter has a section to help with that.
Some of the information on the data panel is easy
to understand, like the F-stop and the battery meter.
But others are just numbers without any
explanation. I have used panning before to try and catch pictures of moving
horses.
Now using manual settings to use
a fast shutter speed and set the aperture to let enough light in that the
picture is still light enough.
Knowing
that the aperture also affects the depth of field has been very useful for
close up pictures.
A shorter depth of
field narrows the focus so I can take pictures without having too much
background information in focus to distract from the focal point of the
picture.
The section on cleaning and storing the camera is very
useful.
After reading this I took the
batteries out of my 35mm.
I never
thought about them corroding in the camera.
I need to clean my camera; I haven’t thoroughly cleaned my camera since
I bought it 5 years ago.
